Tonight’s ECW emanates from the Lloyd Noble Center at the University of Oklahoma as Joey Styles and Tazz welcome us to the show.
Paul Heyman is on the phone with a member of another roster planning to defect to ECW. Heyman tells them to participate in their Chamber match anyway and if he wins, it will mean that much more when they jump ship. Heyman hangs up after telling them that he looks forward to signing them in a few weeks.
Rob Van Dam and Sabu def. Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman
Decent match, finish comes after Sabu hits a Triple Jump Moonsault on Dreamer and RVD follows up with a Five-Star Frog Splash for the three count. After the match, Sandman chases both men from the ring with a Singapore Cane, but Dreamer stuns his partner by taking him upside the head with the Cheese Grater. Sabu and Van Dam charge the ring, with Sabu throwing a chair at Dreamer’s face, but Dreamer catches the chair and takes both of them to task. Dreamer ties RVD to the Tree of Woe and plants the chair into Rob’s face. Dreamer sets up a table on the outside and drops Sabu through it with a Dreamer Driver. Tommy celebrates on the turnbuckles as we go to break.
Delirious def. Christian
Delirious impresses in his debut, countering out of the Killswitch and answering back with a Bizarro Driver for the duke.
Paul Heyman speaks on the issue stemming from last week’s Superstars and says that he won’t allow this chaos to continue. He books a Stable Match next week between The Orient Express and members of the FBI teaming with The Mexicools.
Slyck Wagner Brown is on his way to the ring for his debut contest as ECW goes to another break.
Slyck Wagner Brown def. Raven
Slyck counters Even Flow with a Northern Lights Suplex and crushes Raven with a Haterbreaker to pick up a VERY impressive debut victory.
Colt Cabana observes that with the re-launch of ECW, a number of new faces are trying to make their mark. He promises that the impact he makes tonight will overshadow anyone else looking to earn a name tonight.
JBL is backstage speaking with Kurt Angle and asks him if he’s sure he wants to step into the ring with the maniacal Cactus Jack tonight. JBL says that he personally has never been in the ring with that particular Foley persona, but that he’s seen what Foley is capable of at his most critically insane. Angle reminds JBL that he’s talking to the guy who won a gold medal with a “broken freakin’ neck”. JBL shakes his head and tells Angle that he hopes he knows what he’s doing.
Alex Riley def. Rhyno
Jack Swagger has selected Riley’s “poison” and it’s the Man-Beast, Rhyno. Finish comes when Rhyno primes up for the Gore and Riley leapfrogs, sending him shoulder to the post. STEVEN RICHARDS crawls out from under the ring and clubs Rhyno with the pool cue he intends to use in the Chamber. Riley capitalizes with an A-Bomb and picks up the victory.
Joey Styles and Tazz recap the PPV card, which is now up to nine contests.
Heath Slater is in the ring and is still fuming from last week’s beatdown at the hands of Samoa Joe. Slater turns his attention to Tazz and asks him what makes him think he’s better than everyone else on the roster that he can just sit behind the broadcast desk and do nothing. Slater challenges Tazz to a match next week, but Tazz says no, and Slater starts beating him down. Samoa Joe stampedes to the ring and throws Slater back in and connects with an Island Driver. Joe invites Tazz into the ring and the announcer locks in the Tazzmission. Tazz grabs a mic and says if Slater wants a match next week, he’s got one.
A teaser for the Tag Team Title Match coming up next, as the American Wolves will defend against The Dudleyz.
American Wolves def. The Dudleyz to remain WWE Tag Team Champions
Finish comes when the Dudleyz attempt 3D on Richards, but Edwards throws Bubba out of the way, leaving D’Von to flapjack Davey. Edwards throws a Roundhouse kick to D’Von and sets up for a Powerbomb. Davey recovers and drills D’Von with a Backcracker and Eddie makes the cover for three to retain the titles. After the match, The Kings of Wrestling, America’s Most Wanted and MCMG all start brawling in the ring to get the upper hand, but the Wolves eventually clear the ring and establish momentum. The Wolves stand tall with the titles in the ring in spite of countless challengers being on the doorstep.
Jack Swagger is on his way to the ring for his “Pick Your Poison Match” as we go to break.
Brodie Lee def. Jack Swagger
Unsure how to approach his imposing challenger, Swagger tries for a waistlock takedown, but The Big Rig’s not having it. Brodie stomps on Swagger’s foot and the distraction is enough to allow Brodie to rocket off the ropes and decapitate the All-American American with a Big Rig Boot for the win. Swagger has been outdone by the United States Champion tonight.
Hardcore Holly admiring the carnage from backstage. Holly says Brodie is his kind of guy and is thinking of issuing a friendly challenge for a good old-fashioned brawl with Brodie next week, just to see what the guy is made of.
The ECW Divas are discussing amongst themselves the fate of the Women’s title next week. All are in consensus that they could take the title from Natalya, but none of them seem to be willing to tangle with Kharma in the event that she takes the title. Only Jazz and Chyna seem to think they could step up to the plate.
Colt Cabana def. Brodus Clay
Colt demonstrates incredible strength by lifting Big Brodus and drilling him with Colt .45. Cabana locks in the Billy Goat’s Curse and forces Brodus to tap out. After the match, Cabana locks in a Guillotine Choke and refuses to break the hold. Brodus passes out and eventually starts bleeding from the mouth. Officials have to pry Colt off of the Funkasaurus and call for extra help to remove Brodus from the ring. Cabana made good on his promise, and may well be the largest threat on the roster to the future ECW Champion.
Cactus is backstage lacing up his boots as we go to our final commercial.
Kurt Angle versus Cactus Jack ends in a No Contest
Cactus comes into the ring swinging Barbie and connects with Angle’s skull. Cactus Jack goes to work as JBL and Heyman come down to the ring to try and prevent further damage, but Cactus begins swinging like a madman with the bat, keeping them at bay. Angle is bleeding like a stuck pig at this point as Rhyno jumps Foley from behind with the pool cue. Sandman chases off Rhyno with a Singapore Cane and Dreamer comes in after Sandman, before grinding the Cheese Grater into Foley’s face. Van Dam comes in swinging a chair, but Dreamer brawls with him to the arena floor.
Van Dam sets up a table, but Sabu jumps him from behind and sets Van Dam and Dreamer on the table. Cactus regains himself and jumps Sabu from behind, laying all three of them across the table before climbing the turnbuckle and driving them all through with a Diving Elbow. A profusely bleeding Cactus signals “Bang Bang” and is firm control of the title picture as ECW goes off the air.
